Don't be disheartened, it's intimidating at first but you can do it.
Anyway, I've just beat Diablos in FFVIII, didn't even use The End with Selphie like last time and it was pretty damn easy this time round, Draw-Casting Demi took of thousands of his health and I tried out a little trick I've seen Zell users use online for years, just keep spamming Heel Drop and Punch Rush, you can do this soooo fast it barely uses up the time limit so you're getting out a LOT of hits.
I love the Examination mission where you enter Dollet and fight Galbadia soldiers (who look slightly light SOLDIER grunts...). you get to use Seifer in battle and that's good in a 'I'm using a boss character' kind of way and his Limit Break is awesome.
Didn't beat the massive robot spider that I didn't believe was possible but I've seen being done, but ah well, the whole sequence where it's chasing you down the street near the end to the FMV where Quistis shoots the fuck out of it on the beach with a massive machine gun is brilliant.
Still remembered to draw Siren from the Elvoret Mini-Boss too, score one for the memory banks!(although she's pretty useless, stat boosts excluded)
I really, really like the dance scene soon afterwards, Rinoa is just, I think my favourite bit of that whole FMV is where she gives that random couple a nasty look when I'm pretty sure it was Squalls fault.
Squall learnt how to dance pretty damn good pretty damn fast though, it was as Quistis says a few minutes later 'perfect'. *nods* (I have the music they dance to on my iPod too)
And there is Squall being a bit of a heartless wanker to Quistis later on in the Training Area, he's well in with a shot there, but keep that attitude up and you'll be all alone, Mister.
I'm doing way better with the Junction System now, I'm not nearly annoyed at drawing 100 of any given spell as I thought I'd be and I think I'm doing way better now then I did all those years ago, I think I'm playing the game 'properly' now and that makes me happy.
All this FFVIII-ing is making me want to fire up Dissidia, too bad Ultimecia is awful in that game.![]()

Did you remember to get the doubles from the battle at the top of the tower during the seeD mission? Also Did you get the shell and protect from the boss in the training area, really nice junctions. Also a neat little trick with Siren is that you can make her learn refine healing magic. And with that you can then refine the wizzard stones which you got from one fight (forget which boss). These wizzards stones will turn into curragas which is amazing for health junction. Also if you managed to get some Demi is a really nice Str junction.
Yes to both questions, after all this time I remembered that drawing the '?????' spell from the Giant Bee thing was Shell, something pretty insignificant all told but that's why I'm glad I remembered it.
And I'll definitely be playing around with Refine, that's one of the things I didn't do when I first played the game, I literally got all GFs to learn there elemental refine skills straight off the bat.
I didn't get too many Demi spells from Diablos as I was getting really small amounts from every Draw, and I was failing the Draw a few times to boot, so I just beat him, not too important.
I might do a No Level Up run of this game someday, seems pretty easy compared to other FF handicap runs, like the FFIX Level 1 run for example.

Funny in FFXII You can grind right at the start to get Vann the Katanna and buy then he will kill everything in one hit. INSTA Win.
Didn't like FFXII so people know.
I didn't either eventually, then later I liked it again, it's actually really good in my opinion.
Also, I'm not using a guide for my foray into this Junction/Refining business but....Tents and Cottages, get refined into 10 and 20 Curagas? O_o (respectively)
I know you said Wizard Stones refine into the spell as well, but Tents are items you can buy from a shop, from the first town available...holy shit. *whistles*

Yeah, was thinking on the basis of Money. But its not hard to gain more cash in that game. As for Wizard Stones, you can get them really easy once you get Diablos to learn Mug, awesome ability.
Well I was almost upto the TV station bit BUT I lost my Diablos and Ifrit cards to the bloody Drunk outside the Pub and it took forever to get them back, in the process I was trying to get Mesmerize and Snow Lords (or something?) cards, I have the card mod ability now and the former mods into 20 Regen and the latter into 20 Blizzaga, I have a 100 of the Tier 3 Ice spell already now, the first time I'd ever seen them last time was when Edea uses them.
Also modded Tonberry I think into Death, so I have 100 Death spells modded to Status Attack.
I now have Rinoa to level up now, I will NOT neglect some party members this time like I did last time, everyone will get their moment, but it's a bit of a daunting prospect.
I love the whole 'mission' you do when disconnecting the Trains and connecting it to your carriage, even though you're kinda' running on top of an FMV.
The President fell in a single blow from Squall, I sat around for a wee bit, drawn from the Zombie blob thing he turns into before just ending it with a Phoenix Down.
Now I'm in Timber, I think this is where the shit hits the fan, where you first meet Edea and so on....hope I'm not rushing things, I also have to mention the amazingness that is Laguna and the dream sections!
Laguna, Kiros and Ward are pretty cool although Laguna is a total goon (It was funny how parked in the middle of the road though), got their own Limit Breaks and everything, obviously the best bit about the dream is probably 'The Man with the Machinegun' but I also like the whole bit with Julia, I swear there's a magazine in that bit somewhere bit I didn't find it.

Playing 358/2 Days has given me a major craving for the Original Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2. >.< Why doesn't my PS3 play PS2 games?! GRR! Why are PS2's still so expensive?![]()
